Bon, pour le coup, je dois être honnête en disant que la Thaïlande est loin d'avoir été un coup de cœur. A peine sortie de l'avion, à Bangkok, on est horrifiée de découvrir des immeubles gigantesques, des autoroutes géantissimes, des panneaux de publicité qui doivent coûter le prix d'une maison... Une richesse et une modernisation à laquelle on ne s'attendait pas et qui nous donne la nausée. Bon, ok, c'est vrai, on aurait pu potasser un peu et on aurait été prévenue... mais là c'est véritablement abusé! Mais il faut avouer que la modernité a certains avantages, comme le fait de retrouver une bonne connexion wifi, ou d'avoir accès à des transports toutes directions en 5 min... plus de propreté, plus de confort, mais grande perte d'authenticité dans se pays où l'hypocrisie matérialiste bouffe les sourires censés être le symbole de ce beau pays. Tout n'y a pas été mauvais, je ne dis pas, mais pour ceux en quête d'authenticité, ce pays ne sera pas en tête de liste!
On reste quelques jours autour de Bangkok le temps d'accueillir les copains qui viennent nous rejoindre pour Noël et Nouvel An. Enfin, on est un peu en dehors, encore une chance. On loge au Sananwan Palace, un hôtel pas trop cher, avec piscine (très bon point) et situé plus près de l'aéroport! Egalement non loin du marché, il est très agréable de s'y balader, l'endroit n'étant pas envahi de touristes!
Bangkok, on y repassera souvent, étant un point de passage central pour les trajet nord-sud. Maintenant, malgré une journée de "visite" aucun de nous n'accroche véritablement. Ça reste une trop grosse ville!
Dans tout les cas, si vous voulez vraiment loger sur place, tout en restant près du quartier touristique de Khao San Road, je vous conseil la Flapping Duck Guesthouse: Meilleur rapport qualité prix trouvé, c'est le coin posé de tout les backpackers. Attention, souvent full! Pensez à réserver!
With Naam
Une fois A. arrivé, le temps d'attente T. qui arrive une semaine après, on décide d'aller rejoindre l'eau et de s'installer sur la petite île de Ko Samet. On passe la nuit à Ban Phe, au Naam Hostel, en prévision de prendre le bateau le lendemain pour se rendre sur l'île. La propriétaire de cet immeuble est vraiment très sympathique et pleine de vie et on y repassera pour le retour également!
Une fois sur Kho samet, le regroupement d’hôtels en plein centre, remplis d'occidentaux aux bikinis colorés nous effraye et on s'en éloigne. Mais après plusieurs km sous un soleil de plomb, sac sur le dos, on ne trouve cependant que des bungalows hors de prix et dans des états lamentables. Jusqu'à ce qu'on rencontre un français qui nous parle du No Man's land. Et là en effet, on trouve notre bonheur! on négocie notre prix et on s'installe. Le restaurant se trouve en bord de plage, mer azure et ponton, un coin de paradis à l’écart du flot touristique central. On y restera 4-5 jours, C. retrouvant son chéri pendant que je profite de matin câlin avec les chatons du coin. Après ça on reprend la route de Bangkok afin d'aller accueillir T. qui va arriver à son tour.

Well, for once, I must be honest and say that Thailand is far from being a heart crash. Barely off the plane in Bangkok, we are horrified to discover gigantic buildings, huge highways , advertising panels which should cost the price of a house ... A richness and modernization that we didn't expect and give us nausea. Ok, it's true, we could mug up a little and we would have been prevented ... but this is really abused!
But we must admit that modernity has some advantages, such as the fact of finding a good wifi connection, or access to transport all directions in 5 min ... more clean, more comfort, but great loss of authenticity is in countries where materialist hypocrisy eat those smiles which are supposed to be the symbol of this beautiful country. Everything is not bad, I don't say that, but for those who are looking for authenticity, the country will not be in the list!
We stay a few days around Bangkok time to welcome the friends who join us for Christmas and New Year. Finally, it is a bit outside, what a chance. We stay in Sananwan Palace, a moderate hotel, with swimming pool (good thing) and located closer to the airport! Also not far from the market, it is very pleasant to walk there, the place is not overrun with tourists! Bangkok, we will often passed there as it is a central crossing point for north-south road. Now, despite a day of "visit" none of us really liked it.
It's still too big city!
In any case, if you really want to stay on site, while staying close to the tourist area of Khao San Road, I suggest you the Flapping Duck Guesthouse: Best value price found, the area posed for any backpackers. Attention often full! Remember to book!
Ko Samet see
Once arrived A., the time to wait for T. who arrive one week after, we decided to go near the water and settle on the small island of Ko Samet. We spend the night in Ban Phe, in the Naam Hostel, in anticipation of taking the boat the next day to go to the island. The owner of the building is very friendly and full of life and we went there on the way back too!
Once on Kho Samet, grouping hotels in the center, filled with colorful bikinis Western frightens us and moves away. But after several km under the scorching sun, backpack, we do however find overpriced bungalows and in a very bad state. Until we meet a French guy who told us about the No Man's Land. And there indeed, we find our happiness! we negotiate our prices and we moved in.
The restaurant is located on the beach, azure sea and jetty, a paradise away from the central tourist flow. We will stay 4-5 days, C. rediscovering his beloved while I take morning hug with kittens from the corner. After that we took the road to Bangkok to welcome T. which is gona arrive in his turn.
