Departure from Ranong
Koh Chang n'est pas la fameuse île que vous croyez. Ce n'est pas l'île fiesta et fullmoon mais plutôt une petite île pour ceux qui désire une retraite au calme.
Située près de Koh Phayam, dans la mer Andaman, on la rejoint en prenant un bus de nuit pour Ranong via Bangkok. Le voyage est tumultueux, malgré le confort du bus, les zigzags de la route me rendent bien nauséeuse. Au petit matin on attrape un bateau qui nous mène de Ranong jusque l'île. Celui-ci fait étape sur les différentes plages en fonction de votre Guesthouse et de leurs marchandises à délivrer. On s'arrête à la Mama's Guesthouse où on loue un super Bungalow en bord de plage pour 10$/nuit. Ça reste rustique, mais on adore ça! Et il faut également dire que leur restaurant est fantastique! Imaginer pouvoir commander une fondue bourguignonne en Asie après plusieurs mois de vadrouille à manger du riz et des nouilles! Un petit extra qu'on a apprécié au nouvel an!
Sinon, que faire sur une île où il n'y a pas d'électricité (sauf entre 18h-22h)?? Et bien profiter tout simplement! Zumba sur la plage, baignade, kayak, balade dans la jungle. Koh Chang est pleine de surprises avec des paysages divers et changeants. On passe du jardin sauvage aux forêts d'arbres à caoutchouc, en passant par la mangrove pour rejoindre le lac d'eau douce en son centre. Entre farniente, balade et apéro, vous retrouverez le calme de plages paradisiaques non envahies par les touristes irrespectueux et sales.
Cette île est notre dernière étapes avec les garçons. Il nous faut après ça revenir sur Bangkok. Dernier shopping pour les souvenirs et on les renvois dans l'avion. Mais notre périple en Thaïlande ne s'arrête pas là, le chemin continue!
Koh Chang is not the famous island you believe. This is not the party island with fullmoon but rather a small island for those who wish a quiet retreat. Located near Koh Phayam, in the Andaman Sea, we joined with a night bus to Ranong via Bangkok. The journey is turbulent, despite the comfort of the bus, the zigzags of the road make me very nauseous. In the morning we catch a boat that took us from Ranong to the Island.
This boat stop on the differents beaches, depending on your Guesthouse and their fournitures to be delivered. We stop at Mama's Guesthouse where we rented a super beachfront bungalow for $ 10 / night. It's still rustic, but we love it! And it must also be said that the restaurant is fantastic! Imagine being able to order a bourguignon fondue in Asia after months of running, eating rice and noodles all the time! A little extra we really appreciated for the new year!
Otherwise, what can we do on an island where there is no electricity (except between 6-10 pm.) ?? Well, simply enjoy! Zumba on the beach, swimming, kayaking, walking in the jungle... Koh Chang is full of surprises with diverse and changing landscapes. you pass from wild garden to the rubber trees forests, through the mangrove to reach the freshwater lake in its center. Between relaxation, walk and aperitif, you will find the peace of paradise beaches not invaded by tourists disrespectful and dirty.
This island is our last steps with the boys. We must return to Bangkok after that. Last shopping for memories and we put them in the plane. But our journey in Thailand is not over, the travel continues!
